Description

Numbers 25 and 27 are a pair of attached houses located on Cumberland Street in Bristol, dating from around 1770 and restored around 1980. They are constructed of brick with limestone ashlar, featuring party wall stacks and a pantile roof. The houses have a double-depth plan and are designed in the Mid Georgian style, each standing three storeys tall with a three-window range. The exterior includes rusticated quoin strips leading up to a coped parapet. The outer doorways are framed with architraves and large split keys, supported by thin consoles beneath a pediment, and each doorway has a six-panel door. The canted timber bays have pilaster jambs and cornices, with segmental-arched heads that feature five stepped voussoirs above 6/6-pane sash windows. The interior has been completely rebuilt. Additionally, there are attached steel spear-headed railings in front of the houses.
