Description

Numbers 61 and 63 are a pair of attached houses located on St Michael's Hill in Bristol, dating from the late 18th century. The ground floor was refronted in the mid-19th century. The houses are rendered with limestone dressings, feature gable stacks, and have a pantile roof. They are designed in the late Georgian style with a double-depth plan, standing three storeys high with a basement and a two-window range.

The upper floors display rusticated pilaster strips at the ends and center, topped with a cyma-moulded cornice and a parapet. The mid-19th century ground floor projects and features paired semicircular-arched doorways in ashlar surrounds, complete with overlights and two-panel doors. There are flanking bays with architraves around paired French windows, all linked by a cornice. The windows are 6/6-pane sashes.

The subsidiary features include projecting basement areas with attached wrought-iron railings that have urn finials, along with steps leading down to the basement, which are supported by brick piers. The interior has not been inspected.
