Description
Numbers 22 and 24 are a late 18th-century house, now forming a pair, located on Clifton Wood Road, Bristol. The building is rendered with limestone dressings, has gable stacks, and a pantile hipped roof. It is arranged with a double-depth plan and is of a late Georgian style, standing three storeys high with a basement and featuring a seven-window range.
The symmetrical front elevation incorporates full-height canted three-light bays, a cornice, and a moulded parapet coping. The original doorway features pilasters leading to an entablature and pediment, with a mid-19th century four-panel door. A 20th-century doorway has been added to the edge of the bay on the left. The windows are largely original, with keyed bay windows and cambered heads. Ground floor windows have horned plate glass sashes, while the second floor has 3/6-pane sashes and the second floor features semicircular arched windows with 6/6-pane sashes on the first floor and 3/6-pane sashes with interlacing heads on the second.
The interior includes a central hall with a rear dogleg staircase featuring column balusters, and panelled shutters. Attached to the front are original steps, railings, capped piers and other subsidiary features.
