Description

Avon Cottage is a house built in the late 18th century. It features a rendered exterior, gable stacks, and a hipped roof covered with pantiles. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range. The front is nearly symmetrical and includes a coped parapet, a part-glazed six-panel door with a 20th-century timber canopy, and sash windows with six panes on the ground floor and three panes on the first floor, all set in exposed frames. The angled rear elevation has a mid-19th century shop window with twelve panes and panelled jambs. Inside, there is a central through passage with a stair flight on the left, featuring column newels and stick balusters, along with a panelled area under the stairs and doorways with panelled architraves and roundels.
