Description

Number 51 is an attached house located on St Michael's Hill in Bristol. It was probably built in the mid-18th century and partially refronted in the early 19th century. The exterior is finished in stucco with limestone dressings, and it features brick party walls, stacks, and a pantile gable roof. The house has a double-depth plan and consists of three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a two-window range.

The gabled front includes a right-hand door framed with a plate-glass overlight and a four-panel door, topped by a timber canopy supported on brackets. There is a canted late 18th-century bay with 8/8-pane sash windows in flush frames, and it has a timber dentil cornice. The house also features 6/6-pane sash windows in flush frames and a two-light attic casement, along with scalloped barge-boards and a basement door.

Attached to the entrance steps are wrought-iron railings. Number 51 is now combined with Nos 43-49, which are also listed. The interior has not been inspected.
