Description
94 and 96 Castlegate are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared stone, featuring a stone-coped left gable and a shaped kneeler, topped with a pantile roof and flanked by brick stacks at the center and left end. The front of the building is two stories high, with one window for No. 94 and three windows for No. 96.
No. 94 has a door made of six fielded panels located to the left of a single-pane sash window, both of which are topped with keyed flat arches. On the first floor, there is a 16-pane sash window. No. 96 features a six-panel door beneath a radial fanlight, set in a keyed round-arched opening. To the left, there is an elliptical carriage arch that has been closed off with a garage door, framed by a keyed and quoined surround. To the right of the door, there is a 16-pane sash window beneath a keyed flat arch. On the first floor of No. 96, two 8-pane sliding sashes flank a blocked center window. All windows are fitted with painted stone sills.
