Description

74 Castlegate is a house dating from the late 18th century, which was raised and altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone on a rendered plinth, with a brick stack at the left end and a pantile roof. The building has a two-storey, two-window front. At the left end, there is a six-panel door beneath a blocked overlight. To the right of the door, there is a shallow projecting four-pane sash window in a moulded frame with a cornice, supported on short brick piers. Further to the right, there is a two-by-two pane sliding sash window, with a similar window located on the first floor. All windows feature painted stone sills and painted wedge lintels.
