Description

The Kylix and pedestal, located approximately 65 metres north-east of Atlas Fountain at Castle Howard, date from the early 19th century and were designed by C. H. Tatham. Made of sandstone, the structure stands about 3 metres tall and features a pedestal with a moulded base, sunk panels adorned with waterleaf borders, and a central quadripartite acanthus motif. The design includes a bead and ovolo frieze topped with an egg-and-dart moulded cornice. The fluted kylix has a lipped rim. This piece is included for its group value within the historic landscape of Castle Howard.
