Description

The Walled Garden at Castle Howard features a statue of Venus de Medici and its pedestal, dating from the early 18th century. The pedestal, likely designed by Hawksmoor, stands approximately one metre tall and is a drum shape on a moulded base, adorned with festoons and a moulded cornice. The life-size statue of Venus is based on a classical original.
