Description
The pedestal, located approximately 150 metres west of the Temple of Four Winds, dates from around 1720 and is made of sandstone. It features two steps leading up to the pedestal, which has a cavetto-moulded base. The pedestal is adorned with sunk panels that bear garlands carved in relief, and it is topped with an egg-and-dart cornice. This structure is noted in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission's Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England, specifically for Castle Howard, which is designated as Grade I.
