Description

The vase and pedestal, located approximately 60 metres east-north-east of Atlas Fountain at Castle Howard, date from the early 19th century. Made of sandstone, the structure stands about 3 metres tall. It features two steps leading up to the pedestal, which has a moulded base, blind fielded panels, and a moulded cornice. The vase itself has a fluted base and a lipped rim adorned with a vine scroll. This item is included for its group value within the historic landscape of Castle Howard, which is registered as a site of special historic interest in England.
