Description
The Castle Howard Pedestal, located approximately 100 metres west of the Temple of Four Winds, dates from around 1720 and is made of sandstone. It features two steps leading up to the pedestal, which has a cavetto-moulded base. The pedestal is adorned with sunk panels that bear garlands carved in relief, and it is topped with an egg-and-dart cornice. This structure is part of the historic landscape of Castle Howard, which is registered as a Grade I site in the Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England.
