Description

This is a pedestal for a statue located at Castle Howard, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of sandstone ashlar and stands approximately 2 metres high. The pedestal features a stepped base that is square in plan, topped by a pedestal with moulded concave sides on a cushion pad, and is finished with a moulded cornice. The pedestal is included for its group value within the context of Castle Howard, which is listed as Grade I in the Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England.
