Description

The Boar Garden vase and pedestal, located approximately 30 metres south-west of the statue of the Wild Boar at Castle Howard, is a Grade II listed structure from the mid to late 18th century. Made of sandstone, the pedestal stands about 3 metres tall and features one step leading up to it. The pedestal has a moulded base, sunk panels that display relief swags, and a moulded cornice. Atop the pedestal is a tall, narrow vase with a fluted stem, decorated with festoons and a gadrooned rim. This site is also included in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission's Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England, specifically noted as part of Castle Howard, which is Grade I listed.
