Description
27 and 29 Swan Road are a pair of semi-detached villas built around 1860 by George Dawson. They are two storeys high with semi-basements and feature two dormers. Each villa has three windows on the front, and the roof is slated with a cornice supported by brackets. The exterior is made of grit stone ashlar, and there is a sill storey at the first floor. The windows on the first floor are segmental-arched recessed sash windows with plain surrounds, while the ground floor has splayed bay windows topped with cornices. The doorway of No 27 has a console-bracketed cornice, a fanlight, and a panelled door, whereas the doorway of No 29 has been altered. These buildings are included for their group value, as they are part of a series of properties from Nos 3 to 29 (odd) Swan Road.
