Description
19 and 20 Rose Hill are a pair of semi-detached villas built in the mid-19th century, designed in the Tudor-Gothic style. The buildings are cemented and feature a slate roof. Each villa has two windows, with central bays that project the full height of the structure and are topped with gables that have bargeboards. The villas are two storeys high with an attic and a basement.
The windows on the first and ground floors in the central bays project equally, with a slightly recessed decorated panel between these storeys. These windows consist of three lights separated by mullions and are sash windows. There is one sash window with a hood mould in the attic storey, although No 19 has a modern window in this position.
Beyond the central bays, there is a recessed bay that extends through both storeys, featuring one sash window with a hood mould above and a prostyle porch below. The porch has a three-centred arch with decorated spandrels, flanked by octagonal buttresses, and a decorated panel above that forms a parapet. The door is also designed with a three-centred arch and has long narrow panels, some of which are glazed.
Nos 3 to 8 and Nos 18 to 24 Rose Hill form a group with these villas.
