Description

The Old Swan Hotel, dating from around 1700 and rebuilt around 1820, is a three-storey building featuring a projecting central section with three windows and five-window wings. The third floor was added to the center, and gabled dormers were included in the wings, along with a four-window extension at the west end. Additional alterations occurred in 1878 when the hotel became the Harrogate Hydropathic establishment. The building has a slated mansard roof with bracketed eaves cornice and is constructed of squared, coursed grit stone rubble. It features recessed sash windows and a late 19th-century entrance portico made of stucco with a console-bracketed cornice.
