Description

The Boar Garden features a carved fruit basket and pedestal located approximately 30 metres north of the statue of the Wild Boar. This piece dates from the mid to late 18th century and is made of sandstone. The structure stands about 3 metres tall and includes two steps leading up to a shaped pedestal that rests on lion's paws. The pedestal has a shaped cornice, and the fruit basket is supported by four consoles. This garden feature is part of the historic landscape of Castle Howard, which is registered as a Grade I site of special historic interest in England.
