Description

Beckside Cottage with attached barn is a house and barn, likely built in the late 17th century or early 18th century. The structure is made of roughcast stone with some projecting areas and has slate roofs. It is two storeys high and consists of seven bays, with the first four bays being slightly taller. The barn is integrated into the structure, with the third and fourth bays now part of the house.

On the ground floor, the windows are sashed with glazing bars and feature slated lintels. The first floor has small-paned casement windows in the third and fourth bays, while the fifth, sixth, and seventh bays have small-paned pivoted casements. The entrance to the sixth bay includes a gabled porch with a nine-panel door, and the fourth bay has an entrance with a board door. The first bay features pivoted garage doors, and the second bay has a segmental-headed barn entrance with a pentice and pivoted doors.

There are gable-end stacks on the fourth and seventh bays, with the latter being corbelled. To the left of the main structure, there is a rubble lean-to outbuilding. The rear of the building has a gabled wing and a dormer window. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have a plank and muntin partition and an early 18th-century dated spice cupboard door.
