Description
High Beckside Farmhouse and the attached former barn is a farmhouse that has been converted into a single dwelling. It likely dates from the early 18th century and has recently been restored and remodeled. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has a single-depth, two-unit plan oriented on a north-east/south-west axis, facing south-east, with the former barn attached to the north-east gable.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has five windows that are almost symmetrical. It features a gabled porch that is slightly offset to the right, with a square-headed outer doorway and pigeon holes above. To the left, there are three two-light flush-mullioned windows, while to the right, there are similar mullioned windows with three and two lights, all equipped with stone-slate drip-bands. The first floor has a series of windows with two, two, three, two, and two lights. There is a gable chimney on the left and a ridge chimney at the junction on the right.
The former barn on the right includes a segmental-arched wagon doorway in the center, some slit breathers, and a recently inserted mullioned window on each floor to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
