Description
This is a barn and byre range, likely built in the early to mid 19th century, located to the right of Keld Farmhouse in Shap. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features a graduated slate roof with a stone ridge. The structure has two storeys and is taller than the adjoining farmhouse, comprising five bays. There is a central segment-headed doorway that is partly blocked, with a casement window inserted. To the left of the doorway, there is a stable door and a small window, while to the right, a casement window may have been inserted into a blocked cart opening. The building also has vent slits and a loft door above. An adjoining corrugated iron lean-to at the east end is not of interest. This barn and byre range is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
