Description

This is a 19th-century byre range located to the southwest of Penhow Castle. The L-shaped range comprises two sections. The portion to the north of the main barn is a single-story building with a gabled roof covered in Roman tiles. The south elevation was formerly open, with a wall plate previously supported by timber posts, although this opening has now been blocked. There are four doorways of varying sizes along the south elevation, with the central doorway featuring a small pent roof. Three modern windows are set into the east end.

The western range is also from the 19th century and constructed from local rubble stone with a gabled roof clad in corrugated sheeting. The east elevation contains two openings with red brick dressings. The south gable has two stone steps leading up to a round-headed doorway offset to the east side, also with red brick dressings. The west elevation is without windows.
