Description

The byre located to the north-east of Thornship farmhouse is likely from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with quoins and features a graduated slate roof with a stone ridge. The building is symmetrical, consisting of two storeys and four bays. The south elevation has four doorways, with the left-hand doorway blocked and plank doors on the others. There are vent slits above the doorways. Additionally, there is a hayloft door with dovecote openings above on the east return. A single-storey building adjoining the north side is not of interest.
