Description
The barn and byre range located southeast of Lane Top Farmhouse dates back to 1677, with 18th century additions and re-roofing. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a graduated stone slate roof. The structure consists of a three-bay barn, with an additional two-bay stable or byre range on the left side.
The barn has central double board doors that lead to a cart entrance, which is sheltered by a porch with a slightly lower pent roof. To the left of the barn entrance, there is a byre door that has chamfered long and short quoins, a plain lintel, and a stone plaque displaying the relief lettering "1677." Above this door, there is a square opening with a chamfered surround.
The added bays feature two plain doorways with slight lintels, one of which has quoined jambs. There are also square openings to the right and below the eaves, both of which have slight stone dressings. The barn is included for its group value.
