Description

The war memorial in Ulverston was unveiled in 1921 and designed by Professor W.G. Collingwood. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar sourced from Birchover quarries in Derbyshire. The memorial has a square plan set on a stepped base and features thin diagonal buttresses. Each face of the memorial displays inscribed bronze plaques, topped with crocketed gables that have blind tracery decoration. The cross head is supported by a column made of clustered shafts with a foliated capital.
