Description
The war memorial, located southwest of the cemetery chapels in Ilkeston, was constructed around 1920. It features a standard design by Edward Maufe for the Royal War Graves Commission. The memorial is made of ashlar and consists of an octagonal plinth and base with overhanging chamfered coping. Atop this is a smaller octagonal base that has inscriptions around its sides, which supports a cross with an octagonal shaft and cross piece. A smaller wrought iron cross is attached to one side. Behind the memorial is a curved wall with chamfered coping, inscribed with the names of those who died. This memorial is listed for its group value only.
