Description
The war memorial, located on the green east of the house next to Lewis the Butcher in Kineton, was constructed around 1920. It is made of ashlar and features a square base with four steps, the lowest of which has rounded nosing. There are later inscriptions commemorating those who died in World War II. The simple plinth has panels inscribed with the names of those who died in World War I and is topped with an ogee-moulded capping that supports a stop-chamfered shaft with an egg-and-dart cornice. The head of the memorial displays a shield or crest on each face and has a segmental-arched cornice, with a ball finial supporting a cross. This memorial is an important feature in the village.
