Description

The war memorial, built around 1920, is located on Littlefield Lane in the parish of Snelston. It features an octagonal stone base with a moulded plinth, supporting an octagonal banded shaft. The south face of the shaft displays an interlace pattern, topped by a crocketed Latin cross. At the junction of the shaft, there are carved figures of saints set in ogee-headed niches with pilasters on each side. The south face of the base is inscribed with the words "To the honoured memory of the men of this parish who fell in the Great War 1914-1918." The names of the men who served, as well as another memorial to the Second World War, are inscribed on the other sides. This memorial is included for its group value.
