Description

Brookside is a house built around 1840, with a 20th-century addition. It features red brick construction with applied timber studding and brick dressings. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with plain tiles, featuring wide overhanging eaves decorated with wavy bargeboards. The house has large brick gable stacks topped with triple and twin diamond-set pots. It is a single storey plus attics, with lower bays on the sides. The main facade has three bays with single bay additions, the northern addition dating from the 20th century, and a central gabled bay.

There is a central open timber-framed porch with decorative bargeboards on the gabled roof, leading to a studded wooden door. On either side of the porch are three-light casement windows set under four-centred moulded brick arches. Beyond these, in the additional bays, are single light windows also under similar arches. Above, there are three 2-light casements, each under moulded brick four-centred arches, with the central one located in the gabled bay and the others in gabled dormers that also feature decorative bargeboards.
