Description

School Farmhouse is a farmhouse and attached barn that has been converted into one house. It dates from the 17th century and early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar with sandstone dressings and features a plain tile roof. The roof has stone coped gables and moulded kneelers, along with stone gable stacks; the eastern stack has two square stone pots, while the western stack has four similar pots.

The house has three bays and the barn has two bays, both are two storeys tall, although the barn is slightly lower. The eastern side of the house features a gabled stone porch with a chamfered four-centred arch that covers a 20th-century studded wooden door. On either side of the porch are 2-light chamfered mullion windows with patterned metal casements. There is a similar window on the western side, and above it are three additional similar windows.

To the west is the former 17th-century barn, which is now part of the house. This barn has a projecting square bread oven on the eastern side and a 2-light casement window on the western side, similar to those on the house. Further to the west, there are two stepped buttresses and a 20th-century 2-light chamfered mullion window with single pane fixed lights. Above this, there are two similar but deeper windows.
