Description
The gate piers, walls, and railings located to the south of the Cemetery Chapels were constructed in 1910 by A J Kilford. They feature ashlar piers and cast iron railings. There are eight piers that step inward towards the entrance. The piers are square in shape with chamfered bases, angle colonnettes, and gablets that rise from the middle on each side, topped with pyramidal caps. The piers are connected by low stone walls that are topped with elaborate cast iron railings and similar gates, although the central gates have been replaced. This structure is listed for its group value.
