Description

The cemetery railings and gates at Saffron Walden were constructed in 1857. They are made of wrought and cast iron, with ragstone and ashlar dressings. The design features a dwarf wall with canted ashlar coping topped by spiked railings, which have standards adorned with fleur-de-lys finials. The piers are equipped with plinths and pyramidal caps that include a ball-flower moulded cornice. The gates are fitted with dog-bars.
