Description
The cemetery gates, gatepiers, and adjoining railings date from the 19th century and feature a striking Gothic design. The two large gatepiers are made of cast iron and are octagonal in shape, showcasing openwork with cusped narrow panels on two levels, along with a moulded base and cap. The double gates are also cast iron, designed with two rows of long openings that are cusped at both the top and bottom, flanked by three rows of cusped squares, and topped with cresting above the top rail. The matching railings are set on rubble stone walls with stone coping. These railings also include cusped squares at the top and bottom, cresting, and ornate standards with octagonal shafts and large finials. There are three bays of railing on each side of the gates.
