Description

The railings and gate piers at the north entrance of the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew were built around 1829 and designed by Richard Carver, the architect of the church. They consist of a pair of octagonal gate piers made of ashlar stone, featuring crested moulded caps, recessed four-centred arch panels, and plinths. The cast iron railings are adorned with crosslet finials and urn standards, supported by "S" shaped struts, and are complemented by a rubble dwarf wall that ramps down between the gate piers.
