Description
Number 32 is a house dated 1759, located on Soutergate in Ulverston. It features a pebbledashed exterior with painted ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic above cellars and has a symmetrical design with three bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars, set in plain stone surrounds, except for the middle window on the first floor, which has an architrave with a triangular pediment. To the right of the house, there is a cellar opening with a roughly curved arch. The main entrance door consists of six raised and fielded panels and is accessed by four external sandstone steps with railings. The doorcase is made of stone and features a pediment supported by Tuscan pilasters. A moulded stone gutter cornice projects forward between the second and third bays, above a lead rainwater hopper inscribed with 'IP 1759'. The attic is illuminated by two skylights. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to contain good woodwork.
