SOUTERGATE (East side) No.32 and attached railings (Formerly Listed as: SOUTERGATE (East side) Nos.30 AND 32)

House. Dated 1759. Pebbledashed with painted ashlar dressings and slate roof. 2 storeys and attic above cellars. Symmetrical and of 3 bays. The windows are sashed without glazing bars, in plain stone surrounds except for the middle window on the 1st floor which has an architrave with triangular pediment. To the right is a cellar opening with a roughly curved arch. The main door, which is of 6 raised and fielded panels, has 4 external sandstone steps with railings, and a stone doorcase with a pediment and Tuscan pilasters. The moulded stone gutter cornice breaks forwards between the 2nd and 3rd bays above a lead rainwater hopper inscribed: 'IP 1759'. The attic is lit by 2 skylights. INTERIOR: not inspected but said to contain good woodwork.
