Description
Old Friends Inn is a public house located at 49 Soutergate in Ulverston. It was likely built in the mid to late 18th century and features a painted roughcast exterior with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and consists of two storeys plus an attic, with two window bays. The windows are framed by narrow painted stone surrounds with projecting sills and feature paired sashes without glazing bars.
At the upper part of the roof slope, there are two small gabled attic dormers fitted with 20th-century casements. A painted stone cornice gutter runs along the top of the building. The entrance doorcase, also made of painted stone, is adorned with slim engaged Tuscan columns and a flat moulded canopy supported by fluted and shaped brackets. The building is accessed by three external concrete steps that have iron railings. Gable chimneys are present on the roof. The interior of the inn is described as modest.
