Description
The Queen's Hotel, now a restaurant, is a mid-19th century building located on King Street in Ulverston. It features a stucco exterior with painted ashlar dressings and a hipped slate roof. The hotel stands three storeys high, plus an attic, with a symmetrical facade that includes a plinth, chamfered quoins, and a sill band on the first floor. The facade has three bays, with 6-pane sash windows. The ground floor windows have quoined surrounds, while the upper storeys have plain window surrounds. The central window on the first floor is adorned with an architrave and a cornice supported by brackets. The outer bays on the first floor have blind panels beneath the sashes. The three attic dormers feature casement windows with segmental tops. The main doorway has a quoined surround and a cornice on brackets, and there are chimneys on both the left and right sides. The right-hand return wall, which faces Mill Street, has three bays but is blind on the left side at ground level. The interior has been altered.
