Description
The Rose and Crown Public House is a 17th-century building that has been altered over time. It features a painted roughcast exterior and a slate roof, with two low storeys. The windows are sashed without glazing bars on their lower panes and have painted surrounds with projecting sills. On the ground floor, there are two windows, the right-hand one having paired sashes, and both have triangular tops with incised ornament. The first floor also has two windows, with the right-hand one again featuring paired sashes. A doorway with plain reveals leads to a yard entrance on the left side, while the main doorway, located between the ground-floor windows, has a painted stone surround and a stone hood supported by brackets. A chimney is positioned behind the ridge at the junction with the rear wing.
Inside, the right-hand front room includes a shouldered stone fireplace from the 18th century, featuring an elliptical arch and chamfered false voussoirs. To the right of the entrance, there is a timber wall made from both vertical planks and raised and fielded panels.
