This is a milestone from the early 19th century, created for the Alston Turnpike Trust. It stands approximately 2 feet high and 1.5 feet wide, featuring an elliptical top. The stone is painted white, with carved sans-serif lettering on the front face in black, indicating the distances to Alston (2 miles) and Nenthead (2.5 miles).
