Description
This is a milestone from the early 19th century, created for the Alston Turnpike Trust. It is made of stone, standing approximately 2 feet high and 1.5 feet wide, with an elliptical top. The milestone is painted white, and features carved Roman lettering on the front, which is highlighted in black. The inscriptions read: "ALSTON 4, MIDDLETON 18."
