Description
The Congregational Chapel, which became redundant around 1977, is dated 1756 on the door lintel. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble with quoins and features a graduated stone-flag roof. A later lean-to has been added at the west end. The building is single-storey and has a chamfered surround with a dated lintel above a central plank door in the east wall. The south side contains four windows with semicircular heads and cavetto moulding around the surrounds; the external hinge-pins for shutters are still visible, but the windows have been boarded over since 1983. There are no openings on the north side. The previous listing from 1951 noted that the interior retains the original reading desk and box pews. The burial ground walls associated with the chapel are separately listed at Grade II.
