Description
This milestone, located approximately 250 meters south-south-west of Heronsyke, dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone. It features an upright stone with deep, hollow chamfers on the front, resting on a semi-circular base. The word "DALTON" is inscribed on the base. There are cast-iron plaques attached to the chamfers, indicating "BURTON" on the south side and "LANCASTER" on the north side, along with the distances to "MARKET CROSS" and "TOWN HALL," both marked as half a mile.
