Description

This milestone, dating from around 1800, is located on the west side of Milnthorpe Road, south of the junction with Borwick Lane. It is made of sandstone and features cast-iron plates. The milestone has a triangular section with a semi-circular base. The word 'Warton' is incised on the base. The left-hand plate indicates a distance of 'Burton II½ miles', while the right-hand plate shows 'Lancaster VIII miles'.
