Description
This milestone, dated 1826, is located approximately 150 yards northwest of Storth End Farmhouse near the Half Penny turn off. It is made of cast iron and has a half hexagonal shape with fluted faces and a domed top. The milestone is painted black and white and features the inscriptions "BURTON/ 7/MILES" on the north side and "KENDAL/ 4/MILES" on the south side. It is part of a series of similar milestones and boundary posts along the old Turnpike Road.
