Description

Storth End Farmhouse near Summerlands is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later alterations and an extension to the left. The building features roughcast render over rubble and a graduated greenslate roof with a stone ridge. It has two end chimneys on the main house and one chimney on the extension. The farmhouse is two storeys plus attics, with gable lighting. There are four windows featuring 19th-century casements, while the extension has earlier small-paned casements. An off-centre roughcast stone gabled porch leads to a 19th-century panelled door.

Inside, the farmhouse includes chamfered beams, a spice cupboard with initials and the date RD AD 1722, and a panelled screen to the hall with the initials and date D T A 1701. Similar panelling can be found on the landing, along with earlier wainscoting at the top of the stairs. An oak staircase leads from the first floor to the attics. The roof is a four-bay structure with upper crucks, a ridge piece, slightly arched collars, and two levels of purlins. The attic features old oak floorboards throughout.
