Description
The United Reformed Church is a 17th-century Independent Chapel, significantly refurbished in the 19th century, with a right-hand extension added during that period. The exterior is roughcast render over rubble, with a graduated greenslate roof and a slate ridge. The main section is single-story and built into a slope. It has a 6-panelled 19th-century door with a moulded architrave, three 19th-century casement windows to the left, and one 19th-century casement window to the right, the latter with leaded lights. A door to a lower floor is situated on the right-hand side. The interior features a 4-bay roof with Queen strut trusses, a ridge piece, a morticed joint at the apex, and two levels of trenched purlins. A fragment of a pew from the original church survives, bearing the date 1695 and the initials "ID ED." Other furnishings within the church are from the 19th century.
