Description
The Stainton Aqueduct, built around 1818 by engineer John Fletcher, carries the Kendal/Lancaster Canal over Stainton Beck and a public footpath. It is constructed from squared, coursed limestone and features a limestone string and coping along the parapet. The aqueduct has a single segmental-arched opening, which is adorned with rusticated voussoirs and is flanked by curved retaining walls.
