Description
This is a milepost located approximately 300 metres north of Holme Park, dated 1826. It is made of cast iron and has a half-hexagonal shape with fluted faces and a domed top. The milepost is painted black and white and is marked with "BURTON" on the north side and "KENDAL" on the south side, indicating a distance of 29 miles. This milepost is part of a series of similar milestones and boundary stones along the Heronsyke Turnpike, which were supervised by John McAdam.
