Description

Church Gates is a house dating to 1681, with later 19th-century additions. It is constructed of squared, snecked rubble with graduated stone-flagged roofs and corniced chimneys. The house has an 'L' shaped plan and two storeys, extending over four bays. A plank door has an initialled and dated lintel reading "T. L. & F. L. 1681". To the right is an original mullioned window with two leaded lights; a 20th-century casement replaces the original mullion in a similar window on the left. A blocked fire window is located to the extreme left. Two 19th-century sash windows are present on the first floor, with remnants of an original window visible between them. An external staircase and porch were added to the right side of the property in 1890.
