Description
Baycliffe House is a house dating from 1659, as indicated by the date on the door lintel, with later additions and alterations. It features pebble-dashed rubble on a boulder plinth and has graduated slate roofs with diagonally set rendered end chimneys. The house is three storeys high and consists of three bays, with a lower extension to the right and wings at the rear. The central door, which has an overlight, is set in a chamfered surround. To the left of the door is a two-light chamfered mullioned window and a paired sash window under a hoodmould, while to the right is a single sash window. Each upper floor contains three sash windows, with the ones on the second floor being smaller, and a continuous hoodmould above the first floor windows. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace and a wooden newel stair that leads from the first floor to the second floor.
